Parent/Teacher Conference

Last night at church we experienced our first parent/teacher conference . Lethan pushed another child twice, and the teacher had to give him a timeout for each. Of course it was a bit embarrassing, but more so a reality check that we really need to step up our discipline at home.

Lethan has been more and more defiant; temper tantrums are becoming more and more common. Mentally, we have guidelines and a 'plan of action' to respond to certain behavior in certain ways, but sometimes those plans are not always conducive to the environment, especially away from home. It is even more difficult to follow through with consequences if his tantrum seems to be stepped up a notch (this one goes to 11).

In any case, we have our work cut out for us. Advice is welcome. Read any good books on discipline?

Here is a picture of my 2 year old son sitting with my nephew, Wayne, on the same tractor about 35 years later. It doesn't look nearly as shiny, but it still runs!
